About
Second Image was first published in 1991 as Illustrated Light, a parallel name to the Illustrated Light Gallery, both founded in Fort Collins, Colorado. It was to have been a quarterly publication succeeding to have had two issues see the light of day with distribution of nearly 1,500 copies each resulting in a few subscriptions.
Confusion crept in what with some gallery patrons and readers wondering whether the gallery owned the publication or the publication owned the gallery! The name was then changed for V 1 No 3 to Second Image; the idea being that poets, writers, image makers made the first images and so being published would initiate the second image. Both issues were widely accepted with wishes for continuation.
However, V 1 No 3 never witnessed ink to paper beyond several drafts. Financial and personal obstacles came into play.
There remains a strong concern that it should be revived if not just for those who submitted images and writings to see their efforts in print, even after twenty-five years as V 1 No 3 was to be issued in early 1992. Unfortunately several of the artists have passed away but their work remains.
Thus the main impetus for this site is a revival of sorts and hopefully it might become a forum for visual creators of sight and imagination.
